Kmart Deal & Ideas

So last week, I posted about a deal going on at Kmart here. To sum it up, spend $50 at Kmart and send in your receipt to Glamour Mag for a $25 Kmart GC.

I was really wishing there were more details to it but I didn't find any--such as, could the $50 be before coupons? I wasn't sure if the $25 Gift Card would be worth the $50 you had to spend out-of-pocket. (It's technically only 33% off.) But I did come up with a few things that might make it worth it:

~Stock up on several items during Kmart Super Doubles Days, if you know your store is having one soon.

~Stock up on Baby Formula. Formula is rarely more than $2 off a can. Sometimes you can work a decent deal with CVS $$ off coupons but since they are so rare, you can only get a few cans this way.

~Stock up on clothes that are on clearance for next year. A lot of the winter and spring stuff should be going on clearance here soon, if they aren't already.

~Check out the toy area. Do they have any toys marked down on clearance? You might be able to pick up a few things for Easter gifts and get some birthday presents for parties you have coming up.

~Anything that you need to buy that is rarely discounted.

~Bargain Briana has some coupon-match ups for this week here.

Basically, just make sure that your initial $50 purchase is a good deal to begin with and that you really need those items. Otherwise, you may be able to get a better deal elsewhere, without spending so much out-of-pocket. And keep in mind, spending $50 to get $75 in merchandise is like hitting a 33% off sale, a good deal but you gotta make the most of it!

UPDATE: This was supposed to go through 4/30 but due to an overwhelming response, Glamour magazine cut if off early!

  1. The way I'm taking advantage of this deal is to roll the $20 GC I received on my new Rx last week. I'm going to roll it into $25!
Just so everyone knows most KMarts have a sign at the pharmacy that states they will honor competitor coupons and Walgreens has a $25 GC w/transferred RX coupon out there. So, this may help some get $25 and then roll it into another $25.
