KIDS! : Weekly Series: 7/30 Edition
Here's this week's edition of KIDS!
KEEPERS
Toys
Parents Brand Busy Zoo Activity Center - Check your local Target store's Parents toys section and you should be able to find this one for about $45. It's loved by kids of all ages, even adults! I was lucky enough to find ours for $8 at a used children's store!
Melissa & Doug Deluxe 10-Piece Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks - This one is fun to stack, knock over and you can even teach the alphabet from it. What I love, is it nests right back inside the box for simple storage.
Air Hogs RC Havoc Heli Laser Battle Alien Invasion - I couldn't find an age limit on these but this one is definitely for older kids. They are basically remote controlled helicopters that two people can battle with and "shoot down."
Books
Tails - This is our new favorite book to read. Nathan makes me read it at least twice each time. It has pull-ups, pop-ups, scratch 'n sniff and touch and feel elements.
IDEAS FOR ACTIVITIES
Park Exploration - Every Sunday (as the weather permits) we travel around and find a new park to play at. Sometimes, we'll pack a supper. Othertimes, we'll pick up a pizza or fast food. It's really a great family outing and we just keep finding more and more great parks. Another great thing is that Nathan gets to play with other kids and we get to chat with the parents.
Blueberry Picking - These should be ripe and ready to pick in most areas. You can see pictures of our trip HERE, along with a few tips.
Saturday, August 1st - Home Depot is offering a Kids Workshop for a Message Center. You can read more on it HERE.
DEALS
Free Tag Reader Junior ABC Orchestra Book
FREE Dr. Seuss Activity Book - Download or Mail Request
SUGGESTIONS/SHARING
Weekly Tip For New Parents - New parenting can be overwhelming. Just know that everyone feels that way at first--overwhelmed! It's truly a learning experience but once you get a schedule worked out, it honestly does get a little easier. Don't be hard on yourself if you find it's 10PM at night and you still haven't got a shower in. Trust me, there are lots of unshowered new (and veteran!)parents out there! :)
Sharing - This has been a big week for us. Kaydi finally perfected crawling. She had it down fairly well but now she's super speedy and hard to keep up with! :) Nathan had his first success at potty training. But nothing since. I think next month might be the month we really work on it.
