Go Cubs Go!
When I said we were going to be at the Cubs game all day today, I didn't really think it was going to be ALL DAY! I was hoping that it was going to be a good game, being Rich's birthday and all, but let me tell you, it was a downer for the longest time. It was the bottom of the 9th. Cubs were down 6 to 3. Two Outs. Soto then hits this SPECTACULAR 3-Run Homerun to tie up the game. Let me tell you, Wrigley Field was deafening! The fans were going insane! We were all basically packing up our stuff to drag out defeated selves home and then there was this great hope! Three more innings later in the bottom of the 12th, Lee had a great hit and Marquis made it home to bring the Cubs up to that game winning 7! And now, the Magic Number is 2 for the division clincher!
Talk about excitement. Rich's face was glowing when they sang the "Go Cubs Go" song after they won. What a GREAT birthday present for him. (Thanks, Cubbies!)
Two train rides later, and a trip to Nana's to pick up Nathan brought us home around 9pm. Talk about an all-day outing. But well worth it! Nathan had a great time with Nana, as usual, and Rich and I got one last outing in before the baby arrives. The best part was, my newest brother-in-law got us the tickets for FREE back in April! (Yes, we'll keep him in the family for awhile!) :)
Hope your Thursday was great, too!
