Goodwill Finding! - Towel Rack
So, as part of my "cutting costs" plan, I added Paper Towels to the list. I bought some colored cloths to use so I could eliminate the paper towels as much as possible. Click here for the posting.
Well, I now needed a towel rack. I had looked at Wal-Mart, Kmart and Target and couldn't find one I liked. I wanted one that would screw into the cabinet under the sink. But they all ran $15-20 online. I put it in the budget for this month. My thinking, the cloths will still save us money (and waste!)
At Goodwill yesterday, I found this gorgeous towel rack! It is going to work perfectly! (and I don't have to drill holes in my cabinet door!) It also has a shelf to hold my sponge(s). The dark wood adds a little color to the white appliances and light wood of the kitchen, too. Total cost for this? $3.79!
I'm sharing this with you so you can see, there are good finds at thrift stores! Please don't ever rule them out when you need household items, such as a towel rack. You might end up with something far beyond what you expected...at a fraction of the cost!
Also, places like Goodwill have a free club to sign up for. You get 5% off purchases over $20 and a coupon mailed to you on your b-day each year for 25% off your purchase. And don't rule out the Salvation Army! Their prices are usually lower to begin with and there are great finds there, too!
Take an adventure and head off to a local thrift store. You might just find something amazing! I also found a wooden house that I can make into a great picture frame. I'll post that when I get it completed, hopefully later this week!
Happy Shopping!

That's hilarious. I've been thinking that I need to eliminate paper towels from life too! It's hard for me to make the leap because we live in an apartment building that shares 1 washer and dryer, but I feel like I'm almost to the point where I can do it. Especially since I want to be eco-friendly!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the inspiration!
Let me tell you I was a true paper towel addict! It was VERY hard to cut back but once I got past that first week, it wasn't so bad. Good Luck, Bridgette! I know you can do it!
