CVS: How to Run the Duracell Deal
I've seen the scenarios out there for the Duracell batteries and they go something similar to this: (For math purposes, I'm just going to assume you only have $.75/1 coupons. These are from this Sunday's paper.)
Buy 4-4 packs for $5.99
Use 1-$5/2 CVS tearpad coupon
Use 4-$.75 off coupons
Spend $15.96 OOP, get $15 ECBs.
This is great if you only want to run the scenario once and only need a few batteries. The $5/2 tearpad is programmed to only allow one per card. So if you plan on doing this scenario the second and third time, the tearpad coupon won't work. (Not that it should, it's states on the coupon one per Customer.) If you ran this exact scenario the second and third time without a $5/2 tearpad, you'd pay a total of $12.88 OOP (subtracting the last $15ECB) for 12-4pks or $1.07 a pack.
So if you are in need of more batteries than 16, here's another option:
Buy 2-16pks which are on sale for $9.99 each
Buy 1-4pk for $5.99 (some are only $5.29)
Use 1-$5/2 CVS tearpad coupon.
Use 3-$75 off coupons.
Spend $18.72 OOP, get $15 ECBs.
Next:
Buy just 2-16pks.
Use 2-$.75/1
Spend $3.48 OOP. (You use the $15ECB from the prior transaction.)
You do this twice. Each time, a $15ECB will print and you roll that into the next transaction.
In the end after all the ECBs you earn (I also subtracted the last $15ECB), you'll spend $10.68 OOP and end up with what is equivilent to 25-4pks for $.43 a pack! What a great deal!
I know we are going to be going through a ton of batteries between the baby swing, bouncers, baby toys and Nathan's toys, so I chose to buy more. (If only we could afford that many re-chargeables!!)
(If you need less batteries, you could run the first transaction with 1-16pk and 2-4pks. Then the rest of the scenario the same. You'll only end up with the equivilent of 22-4 pks but for $.35 a pack. Basically, it all comes down to...how many batteries do you want to end up with in the end?)
Hope this helps!
