31 Organizational Tips: Tip # 3

TIP #3 - Do A "Quick-Flip" Method on Magazines To Save Clutter

One of the bad things about finding so many free magazine subscription is that when I don't have much time, the magazines can add up quickly. I've actually passed up on several magazine offers for this reason.

But here's a quick little tip on how to handle the ones that you do get.

1) First flip through to see if there are any articles you might be interested in. Rip them out and staple the pages together. (Check to make sure there aren't any useful coupons on those pages!)

2) Next flip through to see if there are any coupons you might use and clip them.

3) When you are all done, put the coupons with your coupon organizer. For the articles, sort them in two piles. One for food/recipe info. One for informative articles that need time to be read. Put them in a folder, separating the two categories, with one on either side.

Now here's the cool thing, when you have a Dr's appt or you actually get a few minutes of free time, you can pull out that folder and actually read them. If you find an article that you want to keep, 3-hole punch it and keep it in a binder, for future reference.

Make sure you recycle what you don't use!

  1. Another thing to do with old magazines is drop them off at a nursing home or hospital. The residents/patients appreciate the reading material!
