Giveaway #1: Coupon Inserts & Collectable Coupons $10 Gift Card
The first step to being a couponer, is of course, to collect coupons! :) I've noticed over the course of the last year, that several of the FREE or Money-Maker deals require four or more coupons. I usually try to get a few papers a week but it's also a lot to store all those coupons.
What is great is that there are coupon clipping services out there. They give you the coupons for FREE, and just charge you for shipping and handling. A new place that provides this service is called Collectable Coupons. Let me tell you---the small fees these places charge are well worth every single penny. For those of you that have cut out even one insert...you know what I mean--your fingers feel raw after awhile, your back hurts from sitting forever crouched over coupons and your eyes get blurry. You feel like you've been cutting for hours and then you look and you still have a billion more coupons left! :) I'm not so patient, which is why I do the whole insert method and clip as I find a deal. But I do miss deals by not having more of them with me in the stores.
So if you are looking for a place to provide the service to avoid these "little joys" of coupon clipping or are in need of whole inserts that you missed or extras for an upcoming deal, you can always check out Collectable Coupons.
To help one of my readers get started on the journey of couponing or to add to their current stash of coupons, Collectable Coupons is offering a sweet giveaway to one of my lucky readers...5 Whole Inserts from this upcoming Sunday (the 13th) paper *plus* a $10 online gift card to their store. Note: The whole inserts are not clipped. I just wanted to clarify that for the newbies.
Here's How To Enter:
1) Leave a comment and tell me what is your current method for organizing coupons--coupon binder, coupon box, whole inserts or another? Be sure to leave your first name & email/blog address.
After that, you can also enter two other ways: (Make sure you leave a separate comment for these, too!)
2) Subscribe via Email/Reader or Follow the Blog. (These are in my left sidebar.)Make sure you come back here and leave a comment with your first name and email/blog address. (This should be a separate comment than the one above.) NOTE: If you are already a subscriber, thank you, and please give yourself another entry!
3) For an additional entry, write a posting on your blog about the giveaway or you can "tweet" about the giveaway on twitter. Make sure that you leave another comment with your email/blog address letting me know that you did this.
4) There's a total of three entries allowed per person.
Entry is open to US residents only through 11:59pm CST on Saturday, 9/12/09. Winner will be chosen using random.org and contacted by email. If you're the winner, you'll have 48 hours to respond or an alternate will be chosen.

I am currently switching from the box method to the binder method. My binder is going to be two-fold: clipped in baseball card holders, and whole inserts in page protectors.
ReplyDeleteI have envelopes labled food, health & beauty, frozen, etc. I clip coupons I know I will use and place in the envelopes. I have an envelope for stores I shop. I pull the coupons I need for the sale items and place them in it. I write the date on the rest of the insert and place in a big envelope.

I use envelopes however I am going to be switching to a cute little organizer I saw at Target.

My method is pure chaos...I clip and clip, and then sort through them each week. I don't mind, however, as it's fun to sort them and see what I have...and as long as I have the extra time, I don't mind...
ReplyDeleteI use 2 accordian style portfolios

Over the years I have gotten more disorganized.
I now clip the very few coupons I get in my local paper and file in alphabetical order.
I used to divide them by categories and then alphabetize. I gave up on that when I lost my entire folder of coupons several years ago.
I can't subscribe to a large city newspaper so I can get the coupon inserts because they won't deliver to me. I am one mile past their last delivery stop!
I could really use these coupons. I always share with my children and their families.
Wish me luck!
I've just switched from one of those cute coupon organizers from the store to a shoe box. I then put coupons into groupings, such as dairy, cereal, or hair care products and the group is put into a baggie. Each baggie has a note card in the front of the coupons that lists the type of coupons that are in the baggie. This makes it easy enought that my girls can help with sorting.
ReplyDeleteI'm using the full inserts currently, but have also used envelopes.

I use a coupon organizer that I got free. The bottom is falling off so it is time for a new one. I also just throw them into my wallet.

ReplyDeleteI use a coupon binder, then put ones that I know I want to use on my next trips to various stores, I put them in labeled envelopes (Target, Walmart, HEB...)

My current organizer is a little accordion wallet (I think originally from the container store). It's bursting at the seams though, so I'm on the hunt for a better system. Happy to read through other reader's comments about their systems.

my coupon clipping just changed, as I no longer get multiple copies. I went from putting them in folders to clipping everything out.
ReplyDeleteI used to clip all of my coupons, but I recently started keeping them as whole inserts. I usually know what I am going to buy when I head to the store so I just clip the ones that I need for the week and then I use a small accordion file for the coupons that I wasn't able to use.

I am currently using the coupon binder-baseball card inset method. I'm still trying to get things organized because i progressed from a single binder to a double binder! its so exciting!!!

I was using an divided binder but it was getting overwhelming and I saw a blog last weekend on the coupon free weekend to re-do your system and clean it out so I now use a basket with a top. I have the coupons from the papers cut out and labeled with the date and SS, RP, or PG. Then in the front, I cut folders in half and down to fit and made a folder for stores and topics for printed coupons. I got it all organized over the coupon free weekend.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog on my coupon free weekend while I was searching and just signed up to get your e-mails. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI recently graduated from a plastic baggie for coupons to a small accordian-like organizer.
ReplyDeletei am a subscriber via google reader.
ReplyDeleteI collect the coupons from the internet, sunday paers, magazines then shop the ads for the best price. I only use coupons for the items we will use. Do not use a coupon just because. I put them in a sorted binder til I am ready to use them.

ReplyDeleteMy current method of organizing my coupons is a lg. coupon binder. I take it with me to the store. The leftover coupons from my inserts are filled numerically in a small file cabinet.

Right now, I am doing the whole insert method. I have them all divided up by date and clip which ones I need before I go shopping.
ReplyDeleteKristen.Lee17@gmail.com
I and using envelopes and a binder. I have just started coupon shopping, $ getting the hag of it .
ReplyDeleteI keep my Sunday inserts in a box, sorted by the date. When double/triple coupon days roll around, I go through and sort my coupons into various envelopes (free, less than .50, less than $1, etc). It's harder to shop the clearance rack, since I only carry the coupons I need for that week, but it's also cut down on impulse buying. :)

I used to use a photo box, but it just took too much time. Now, I use a file folder box with hanging files..labeled with the dates of the inserts. I just clip what I need before I go to the store.
