Lowe's: Build and Grow Clinic This Saturday

Just a reminder that Lowe's is offering another one of their "Build and Grow" Clinics this Saturday, August 22nd.

It looks like they are building school buses, like the one pictured above. You can sign-up HERE for some frugal family fun!

Also, they are having another "Build and Grow" clinic on Saturday, September 12th, when they'll be building a Lowe's Drum! You can sign-up for that one, too at the same time!

Hope you all have a great weekend with your kids, no matter what you do! :)

Letterboxing: Ever Heard of It?

Picture from Letterboxing.org.

My friend Debbie mentioned that she might take her family out letterboxing this week. To which I was like...what? :) Well, come to find out, it is actually a very cool thing!

I really can't explain it all. The details are all HERE but the overall concept is that you hunt for letterboxes, put your stamp in their book and theirs in yours. You fill your book full of stamps from all of your letterbox findings!

I am now so incredibly intrigued that I am going to start doing this with my husband soon before winter hits. We are bit puzzle-lovers and love a good mystery. So this sounds right up our alley.

Have any of you ever done this?

Thanks, Debbie, for the really fun idea!!

UPDATE: It sounds like some of you have been having some fun with something similar called Geocaching! Another cool thing for me to research! Thank you so much for sharing!!

Outside of the Box: Business Card Holder

I was in Target looking for a new file box for my coupon bag and I stumbled upon this cute little Real Simple brand business card flip holder. It was marked down to $3 and was of the highest quality! While I didn't need it for my business cards, I knew I could come up with a great use.

I immediately thought of using it for putting pictures and words in there to flip through with Nathan when we are stuck at, say the Dr's office or even while shopping. It has 10 holders so I can get in 20 words/pictures for him. There's also a slot in the front where I can personalize with with his name or a picture of him.

For those of you with older kids, wouldn't this be a great way to take their spelling bee words with you everywhere? It's small enough to put in your purse so you can practice them anywhere! Put a picture on one side and the spelling on the other. What fun!

Frugal "Coat Rack"

A few months back, I decided that I had my fill with our coat rack center. It had a metal bar for coats, two bottom shelves and a top shelf. The idea was to have a place for guests to hang their coats. But in the end, it just turned out to be a clutter center! We each would have 3-4 coats hanging up, along with sweatshirts. And by the time we were done, there wasn't any room for guest coats! :) So I decided it was time to simplify!

While in Michael's craft store one day, I found these cute heart hooks on clearance for $.50 each. I knew we'd have paint left over from making Papa's birdhouse so I wouldn't have to buy any extras. I had also found this "Love" sign on discount and I loved the color scheme. So I tried to match up the hearts with it.

For about $5 for the hooks and sign, I don't think it turned out too bad! It also adds a nice little splash of color to the room! And we each have our own little personal hook. I'm also hoping that I can somehow use it to help Nathan learn his colors.

A big "Thank You" to my sweet husband for taking the time to hang these up last night. Can you believe he TAPED the Bears game just so he could help! :)
