Shopping Spottings

Nathan and I went out this afternoon to pick up a few more Jewel deals where the catalinas were ending today. While we were out, I saw a few things worth mentioning.

Target - They still had some school items in their $1 area. Ours had a lot of their $1 stuff marked down 75% off. Also, their smoothies in their cafe area are on sale for $1 this week. It might make for a nice little treat for you to share with the kiddos. They also have a new thing for upcoming releasing video games. You buy a $1 reservation card. When your game gets released and you buy it with the card, you earn a $5 Target Giftcard! So if you need to buy any for any reason, you may want to check it out.

Michael's - They also had some school items in their dollar area. Ours had a large display of teaching items that were 30% off. This included whiteboards, corkboards, etc. I found the cutest monthly calendar wipe-off board for $7. I haven't decided if I'm going to hang it in our kitchen for a monthly menu planner or in my office. They also had flip flops for $1.

Jewel - I discovered they have a dollar area, too! Theirs had shopping list and menu planner pads. They also had a few kids school items.

So if you are in the need for some inexpensive activities to do with the younger kids this summer, you may want to check out the $1 bins in your local stores. Activity books and such seem to be the popular item right now. They would make great traveling items, too.

Shopping Spottings

Wow, it's been awhile since I posted one of these. This is just a place where you can leave a linky or comment to what you've "spotted" at the stores that wasn't advertised or is on clearance so we can check our branch to see if we might have the same good deal available. Here are the ones I found yesterday:

Wal-Mart

~Old El Paso Taco Shells have peelies on them for "Free Taco Seasoning with the purchase of any 2 Old El Paso products." Their taco shells are $1.38 each so you could get 2 boxes of taco shells and seasoning for $2.76. (Or a box of taco shells and 2 seasoning packets for $2.24.) Or just buy the shells and save the coupon for an even better deal later elsewhere.

Jewel

~Weber Seasonings and Marinades are currently BOGO. At our store, there was an end cap display that had pamphlets w/ coupons inside. One is for $.35 off. If you grab 2 pamphlets, you can get 4 marinade packets for $.29 for the TWO or about $.15 each. (Other Qs in the pamphlet are $1/1 Reynold's Foil and $.50/1 on NY or Texas Toast frozen products.) These are nice to vary up your dinners!

Target

~Our Target had loads of items on clearance on the endcaps. I heard them say they were going to re-arrange the aisles and were clearing out some products they aren't going to carry anymore, etc. So you may want to see if yours is doing the same.

CVS

~Ours had Zaditor rebates by the product for $5 back. For any of you that picked up last week's $14.49 sale w/ $5 ECBs deal, you could end up paying $1.49 if you had that $3 Q from the paper. (I had to pick one up for my Mom so she will love this!) The rebate was good until 6/30/09 so if you use this product, you may want to see if you can find one.

Shopping Spottings: Easter Clearance Findings

I just thought I'd throw this one out there for those of you that are out this week and find some GREAT clearance deals.

This posting is just a spot for you to share what great clearance bargains you've found at any store for Easter things...or even just clearance items in general!

My favorite place to check for holiday clearance is Target. At Halloween and Valentine's, I found some really great high-quality hand towels. The designs were basic enough to use all year round. It's really helped me cut back on my paper towel usage!

Shopping Spottings

I thought a new one was in need. I'm sure some of you saw some great deals while you were out shopping this weekend. Here's what I saw:

JCPenney's - They've marked their clearance down even more making everything 75% off! I hit the baby and activewear depts!! I found tons of Nike and Adidas items that were around $5-10, originally $30-45.

Target - Target has also marked down a lot of their clothes. Not as good of deals, though, as JCP.

Dominick's - They had 93% lean ground beef marked down to $1.99lb! You better believe I stocked up! Prices around here never get that low and if they do, it's for 80%! They also had Kraft Cheeses marked down to $1.99. They also had $.75 off coupons by the cheese, making them only $1.24! Another pricey item here in Chicago!

Shopping Spottings

I haven't posted one of these in awhile! This is just a place for you to comment on any unadvertised deals you've seen at the stores lately. All branches may not have the same discounts but we can all check our stores to see if the same deals apply.

Liz wrote me that her Target has their digital photo frames drastically discounted right now. She said most were originally up to $100 and marked down to $21-$25. As she said, they might make great Christmas presents for this year!

She also said Toys R Us has some great toys marked down in their clearance area. She picked up the cutest baby toy that was originally $30 for $8.

I've also heard that JCPenney is having a BOGO sale on Clearance items.

I personally picked up some great bargains at Target in their children's clothes dept. I was able to find a pair of shoes and a licensed college hoodie for Nathan for around $5 total!

These posts are a place for us to put unadvertised deals we see when we are out shopping that may just be specific to that store location, but could be an idea for everyone else to look into at their store. Here's what I saw this week while I was out:

Target
~A&D Ointment boxed with Coppertone Sunblock was on clearance for $2.37. Use $1 printable coupon here or you can find one from almost any baby magazine to make a good deal!

~Kashi Cereal had peelies for $1 off Kashi crackers. Use these for the $5 Target Gift card deal!

~Kashi Cereal had boxes with Free Granola Bars packaged with them.

~Gerber Nuk bottles had yellow stickers marked "FREE after rebate." The rebate form is inside AND it has a $3 off coupon for any Good Start formula powder can!

~Baby's/Children's swimwear is marked down 30% off. Included sunglasses and UV-Protective shirts/shorts.

"Shopping Spottings"

I thought I'd start a post for a place for us to put things we see when we are out shopping that may just be specific to that store but could be an idea for everyone else to look into at their store. Here's what I saw this week while I was out:

Jewel
Home Life 20 pack batteries were on sale for $4.50 a pack. They are originally $9.98. I haven't tried this brand of batteries yet.

Target
Over in their dollar area, ours had children's lift-a-flap books this week. I picked up the Letters one and it's soo cute! Each letter of the alphaphet has a picture/word and the letter next to it. Under the letter is another picture that starts with that letter.

Ours also had a larger amount of snack food on clearance on the back end-caps. It looked like they might be bringing in some new items and were clearing out some slow sellers.

Update: I forgot to mention, ours had 30% off almost all school supplies!

CVS
Ours had 75% off summer items. They had some great kid's toys for under $1. I picked up a Playdoh Dome for Nathan to make for his Daddy's office desk. (It was my filler item to get to $10!)

These $1 or under items are great to throw into a container and save for a "rainy day" or a small reward.
