What's New: EA Sports Active: More Workouts!

OK, so this isn't a "deal" posting but one of those, "Hey, did you know this existed?" ones. I just found out this weekend that there's a new addition to the EA Sports Activeand it's called EA Sports Active: More Workouts.

If you've been following my blog for any time, you know how much I love the EA Sports Active. It's seriously like your own personal trainer right in your own living room. So you better believe that this new one's on my Christmas list! :)

I just wanted to share the news with you, in case you were like me and hadn't heard it was coming out on November 17th. You can pre-order it on Amazon for $36.99 right now.

If you have a Wii and are looking for an exercise "game" that's a little less expensive, my favorite one is My Fitness Coach. And another good one is Gold's Gym Cardio Workout.

I was just wondering if any of you have tried Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010 or The Biggest Loser Wii Games?

The best way for me to try to stay fit is to always keep my fitness routines fresh by switching up what I use or do. With the weather getting a little bit chillier now, I may add a little running back in until the snow/ice starts.

And if there's anyone from Wii out there---I'd love to product test any of these--and I'm sure my readers would love a good Wii giveaway (wouldn't you?!) So keep us in mind!

Game Stop: Trade-In Three Select Games and Get $59.99 Off EA Sports Active

You cannot begin to imagine how excited I was when I found this! Game Stop is running a promotion that they'll give you $59.99 off of EA Sports Active when you trade-in any 3 games they have listed here. (Folks, it's a VERY long list of choices!) Offer expires 5/10/09.

You read that right. $59.99. And it sells for $59.99. So FREE with trade-ins! So if you have some of the listed games and aren't playing them (or you can find them on the cheap) you may want to consider getting it! It looks like a great workout and it sure beats a gym membership fee!

If you are short a game, you might get lucky and your Best Buy may still have some for sale for $9.99, like Guitar Hero III here.

Thanks, slickdeals!

PLEASE NOTE: This is only a good deal if the games you trade in are ones you can get REALLY cheap or that you don't play.

Marching Into Fitness: Upcoming Wii Releases

So I was browsing the Toys R Us ad and I saw Gold's Gym Cardio Workout for Wii for $19.99. I'd never heard of it and that's because it doesn't release until 3/31. Well, I checked around and it looks like Amazon has it for $27.99 and Best Buy for $29.99. So if you are planning on buying it, Toys R Us has the best price. Not only the best price but....FREE Shipping! Can you tell I'm excited? Here's some info on it:

*A personal training experience - schedule workouts, track burned calories and body weight evolution

*Offers a more intense cardio workout than most Wii fitness games. Includes exercises such as: cardio boxing, running, sit ups, and other activities.

*Tracks your progress and maintains a calendar of your exercise activity.

*Multiple Training modes and fitness levels - Difficulty evolves as your fitness level increases.

*Wii Fit Board compatible exercises, such as Squats, Back Training, Abdominal Training, Push Ups, Log Cutting, and Punch Dodge.

*The game includes a BONUS 7-Day VIP Golds Gym Membership.

Not only that, but when I went to check this out on Amazon, I saw another one releasing on May 19th called EA Sports Active. This looks like it's right up my alley. I am going to have to keep that one on my wishlist. This one is pricier at $59.99 on Amazon. (I wonder if I am worthy of that expensive of a Mother's Day gift? haha) And I wonder if this will fly off the shelves like the Wii Fitdid last year in May when it first came out? We did a pre-order on that one and I'm glad we did! The great thing about pre-orders is you don't pay until it ships and Amazon has a price guarantee that it will only charge you the lower of the prices (even if it releases higher)

I am totally willing to spend my "allowance" on things that keep me fit and healthy! (As long as they still fit into our budget.) I like to switch up my workout routines to keep me motivated. (Which I won't lie to you, gets harder and harder in the winter!!) In the end, staying healthy saves you money because it helps ward off health issues and medical bills. Not to mention the most important thing...it keeps you around for your kids! (And it's sooo much cheaper than a gym membership!)

So I'm throwing these new findings out to you so you can check them out and determine if they are going on your wish list or not, too! In case you missed me going on and on about it in the past, I am a big fan of My Fitness Coach. This was one of the best things I could have spent my Christmas present $$ on. (Thanks again, Mom!!) But if you are wanting to buy it, sometimes Best Buy will mark it down to $19.99. So keep your eyes open!

I'm going to have to check with Jenn from Wii Mommies to see if she has any lowdowns on these new releases!! Please forgive my excitement. I just love what the Wii comes out with. Who would have thought exercise and fun could be said in the same statement?

My Fitness Coach: In Stock Again!

I know a lot of you were wanting to pick up My Fitness Coach for the Wii. Well, it's finally back in-stock at Amazon. It also qualifies for FREE shipping. (It was such a hot game that it's been sold out for over a month now.)

This is one of my favorite Wii "games" and works as a nice compliment to the WiiFit system. (This does NOT work with the WiiFit board, nor do you need the WiiFit to use it.)

You can read my review on it here. I give it five stars and two thumbs up. :)

Wii: Nascar Kart Racing

This one isn't a frugal posting but another "Did You Know" posting for all you gamers and Nascar fans.

Nintendo is going to release a NASCAR Kart Racing game on February 10th for the Wii. It appears to be very similar to their Mario Kart game.

Designed exclusively for the Wii, NASCAR Kart Racing enables players to grab the steering wheel as a famed NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and speed through treacherous landscapes, wind around rocky cliffs, jump rivers and dodge falling boulders. Up to four players can go head-to-head, via split screen, in a mad dash to the checkered flag, making NASCAR Kart Racing an ideal game to play with family and friends.

Amazon is currently taking pre-orders below the list price. How cool of Nintendo to release this game right before Daytona 500! I can see some people buying this to play at their Daytona 500 parties.

Review: My Fitness Coach for Wii

On Sunday, I saw Best Buy had My Fitness Coach discounted to $20. Ironically, I had $20 left of my Christmas money from my Mom and I thought it would be the perfect way to spend it. (Thanks, Mom!) Let me tell you, it was a great investment!

I've been using the WiiFit but I also wanted to check this one out. It's for the Wii but not WiiFit compatible. So for those of you who just own the Wii, it's a way to get in your exercise!

First, it starts off by having you build your profile. Now, you need a resting heartrate so don't do any exercising before you start.

Next, they have you log your current measurements for your arms, chest, waist, hips and thighs. (Though, you can skip this step.) This is great because you can track your results long term. So you may not be shedding pounds, but you could be bulking up muscle or shrinking down your waistline!

Next, they test your current body strengths/weaknesses to see where you are at overall. They'll make you do 2 minutes of jumping jacks,(brutal!) some push-ups, some crunches, etc. Now this is important...do not ever lie to the system! It will only hurt your results. If you only did 2, fess up and say 2! :) At the end, they will give you your recommendations of what you should focus on (mine was upper-body strength) but you can choose your own path, if you'd like.

What I like about this "game", shall we call it, is that it allows you to choose your own music type and background for your workouts. The more you "play" the more choices unlock.

The trainer for this game is Maya. She's got a calming voice and I don't find her irritating one bit like some computer graphics. You set up your commitments for your week choosing from no workout, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc. You can change them as need be. I chose to start with 15 minutes a couple times a week.

They recommended a workout but also gave me the option of choosing my own. I figure, they knew best and so far, I've done the cardio and core workouts. While you are working out, the "moves" scroll across the bottom of the screen. This is great because you can see how long you are stuck doing that one and you know what to expect next. They also plan in actual rest periods. Throughout the workouts, they'll stop and ask you how you are doing. You have to choose from no sweat, working hard or can't keep up. Again...Don't Lie! They will alter your workouts, dialing them up or down, as needed. Don't be embarrassed to say it's too much!

You can also log any other activities you do so you can keep track of all your daily workout times.

Overall, I am loving this game. After I've completed each workout, I can actually FEEL the difference. I'd give it 5 stars so far. If you have the $20-$30, it's totally worth the money.

Let me know if you try it and your thoughts on it!
